Friday, November 24, 2023 – Snarky Friday Slip Sliding Away

Friday, November 24, 2023 – Snarky Friday Slip Sliding Away

I do hope your yesterday was filled with family, friends, food, fun, and football and you gave thanks for all.

My apologies for being late. I was doing my Black Friday shopping. Packages will arrive on Tuesday. Was looking for possible engagement gifts for Taylor and Travis.

It is Rivalry Weekend. For many fans that means – At last the crappy football season is finally over, bringing either no bowl games or really crappy bowl games that help the T-shirt industry.

Last evening, the Dart hit the bullseye and busted the egg as Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State in The Egg Bowl 17 to 7 and thus ending a year to be forgotten for State.

TCU and OU are currently playing. The Sooner Schooner seems to be squashing the frogs. It is 42 to 13 at halftime.

I must hurry to get a snark in for THE University of Texas and Tortilla Tech who play tonight at 6:30 on ABC. TU! Remember there are two halves to the football game and you must play at the same level in both halves. To Tortilla Tossers! May there be the ghost of Michael Crabtree with a final second catch for a winning touchdown!

Tomorrow

We gotcha Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn on CBS at 2:30. Gary Danielson is already talking and being biased toward Alabama.

The school of Cornelius Vanderbilt will play the SEC UT (Tennessee) at 2:30 on SECN.

Georgia and the Rambling Wrecks from Georgia Tech play at 6:30 on ABC. UGA? Watch out for the young man from Longview, Texas playing QB for GT.

Saturday morning starts with THE GAME as Ohio State travels to Ann Arbor for The Big Chill game with Michigan on Fox at 11:00. No sign stealing but should be a good game. Somebody goes home undefeated. Somebody goes home with a single loss. If that one loss is Ohio State, does that mean the Texas Aggies will come calling?

Speaking of Aggies. The Aggies travel to the bayou to meet the LSU Tigers in Death Valley. This game is at 11:00 am (think drunks in the stands) on ESPN. This will be a defining game for both teams. An Aggie win means “Hey, New Coach? Look what we can still do!” An LSU means “Next year, we will be even better when Arch Manning arrives!” Okay. I made up that last part.

Be nice to people. Be nice to yourself.

BTHO LSU!

Wednesday, June 26, 2019 – Go Vandy!

Wednesday, June 26, 2019 – Go Vandy!

The winner of tonight’s College World Series will be decided. Tonight is Game three in the final best two of three series between Vanderbilt and Michigan. The series is tied. I am picking Vanderbilt and here’s why.

  • I have been to Nashville.
  • I have never been to Ann Arbor.
  • Vanderbilt is in the SEC.
  • Great Uniforms
    • The military look looks good on the players. In the final regional game Vandy wore an army brown and in game one of the CWS the players wore a drab olive green. It is difficult to wear a dirt brown and drab olive uniform and still be able to pull it off with red, white, and blue accessories and patches.
    • Pinstripes – I am a sucker for pinstripes. The black uniforms with gold pinstripes were outstanding. They too were accessorized with gold and white colors.

Here’s what I’m thinking. Tonight, as Vanderbilt faces off against Michigan, the Vandy players should wear Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, with a gold and white jersey and black lettering. It just seems right, don’t you think?

Win it for Gloria and the rest of the SEC!

Friday, November 4, 2016 – The Friday Football Snark – Who’s In?

Friday, November 4, 2016 – The Friday Football Snark – Who’s In?

The College Football Selection Committee announced on Tuesday, “Who’s In?” These are the four football teams that would match up for a national championship if the season ended on Tuesday. But the season did not end on Tuesday. Nor will it end on Saturday, but the Who’s In can change.

Before we see Who’s In, let’s begin with Who’s UP and Who are you?

Who is (are) the Idiots of Sports Programming who schedule football games at 11:00 am in the morning?

Moving along to Who’s Out? – These are the teams currently deemed out of contention for a National Championship in college football. However, one or two may go to a nice bowl game while the remaining will play in lesser bowl games in prime vacation spots like Shreveport, Louisiana. Well, you can go to the casinos.

From the Who’s Out from the Small 12 Conference:

Falling backwards to yesterday, OU defeated Iowa State 34 to 24. Do not forget to “fall back” and set your clocks back this weekend.

Coming to you live from Lubbock, Texas at the unholy hour of 11:00 am on FS 1 THE University of Texas plays Tortilla Tech. Flying breakfast tacos. Tech (800x600)

This should be an offensive delight. Hook ‘Em Hippies!

At the reasonable hour of 2:30 FOX brings us Baylor and TCU. This would have been more exciting if last weekend had not happened to both teams.

On ABC @ 2:30 the Cowboys of Oklahoma State play the Wildkats of Kansas State. FYI, Ms. Navasota – Bill Snyder is alive. Love you, Pistol Pete!

Who’s In? And Who Could Be In?

Surprising all of football and delighting all of Aggieland, the #4 Texas A&M Aggies play the Mississippi State Bulldogs. This is at the ridiculous hour of 11:00 AM on the “you must pay for it with your cable” the SECN. One game at a time Aggies! Vote for Conner McQueen for President! Trevor Knight for VP. Platform: “Gig ‘Em!”

Following the Aggies on ESPN @ 2:30 the Terrapins of Maryland play #3 Michigan. Please, oh please – The Turtle and the Hare! Maryland, My Maryland!

At the same time (2:30) on ABC in the Game of Orange we have Syracuse and # 2 Clemson. Go Round Orange Thing!

Otto the Orange

At 5:00 we have an Aggie Women’s Basketball Exhibition Game with Oklahoma City University @ Reed Arena. Go Lashes! No TV, but most of the season is on SEC.

Lashes 2 (800x450)

Returning home just in time for an evening of excitement:

On ABC at 7:00 Nebraska plays # 6 OHIO State. Go Huskers. Nobody likes nuts in their cornbread and Ohio uses plain bread to make dressing. Dreadful!

But rocking Baton Rouge at 7:00 PM on CBS the # 1 Alabama Tide rolls into Death Valley to meet the Tigers of LSU. So sorry dear Tide friends – but I gotta go with family on this one! Tiger Boogie! GEAUX Tigers!

And should you still be awake at 9:30 the # 5 Washington Huskies play the Bears of Cal  on ESPN. Go BEARS!Beer Bear
